Snow Village incorporated into the Lapland Safaris Group

Lapland Safaris Group Oy has purchased the entire share stock of Ylläs-Safarit Oy on 4 July 2013. Ylläs-Safarit Oy continues its business activities as its own profit centre as a subsidiary of Lapland Safaris Group Oy.

The Snow Village located in the Lainio area of Ylläs is Lapland’s most exquisite snow-built destination. Snow Village provides Lapland Safaris with pioneering snow building expertise and a good foundation to continue the development of building with snow and ice throughout the region of Lapland. Each year, the snow hotel of the Snow Village is constructed with around thirty rooms, an ice restaurant and chapel. This winter sees the construction of the snow hotel for the 14th time. In addition to building ice and snow hotels in Lainio, Snow Village has also made snow and ice hotels in e.g. Norway and Canada.

“The Snow Village brand and the well renowned snow construction expertise of Ylläs- Safarit Oy supports the services Lapland Safaris offers its clientele” states Marketing Director of Lapland Safaris Group Oy, Rauno Posio. “With this acquisition, we are making assurances for the enhancement of the expertise in snow construction, while providing Snow Village with our resources and marketing machine” Posio adds.

Lapland Safaris is already a long standing partner of Snow Village. As the biggest activity programme provider in Scandinavia, Lapland Safaris continues to develop the Snow Village as a lifetime experience destination for snow construction. As building with snow is on the increase throughout Lapland, Snow Village stands out from the competition by quality and quantity. Each year, Snow Village offers something new to see and experience, making it worthwhile to make repeat visits to the destination.

The entrepreneurs Tomi and Rami Kurtakko of Ylläs Safarit, who have now sold the Snow Village brand, continue to work for the company. Rami continues his post as Managing Director and Tomi as Technical Director, both retaining their familiar responsibilities. Managing Director Rami Kurtakko is happy with the new potential the sale brings about. “I see the future of Snow Village being a resort destination, offering much more than just a single night stay at the destination”, Rami tells. “There is plenty of space in the area and excellent opportunities for more construction and provision of activity programmes”, Rami adds.

The ownership of the family-run business was earlier sold by Ella Kurtakko and Tuomas Kurtakko.
