New distance World Record by snowmobile on the water

Antti Holmberg got a new distance world record driving 180,1km by swnomobile on the Ivalojoki river and the Inari lake… and Lapland Safaris was there as a one of the sponsors of the event!

Driving on the water with a snowmobile is not new for Antti, and he won almost all these crazy competitions last year. So looking for some new challenges with his snowmobile, he though to drive long enough to beat the previous distance record, set to 70km.He started from Ivalo river in Ivalo village, heading to Inari lake and once there driving all the way to Inari village… and back! At the end of his adventure he managed to complete 180,1km.

To be able to complete the distance, Antti had to refuel. Since stoping was not an option (otherwise the snowmobile would have sunk), he had to do it by himself while driving. To do it, his snowmobile was carrying a a bottle of 20l of petrol and an electric pump.

The whole adventure was filmed by a team who followed Antti Holberg by skijet. The skijet had to refuel too, but stopped normally to do this operation, while Antti had to wait for them driving around before they continue their trip to Ivalo, where everybody was waiting.

Bellow you can check the video of his arrival to Ivalo. And if you want to check the video report of his adventure (2min20sec), you can do it from Yle page.
