An agreement under which Lapland Safaris purchases a majority shareholding in companies owned by Jukka Hirvonen that are active in the Luosto area was just concluded. Snow Games Ltd and Arctic Husky Pyhä-Luosto Oy will continue their operations under the Lapland Safaris brand. Long-term Luosto resident and safari entrepreneur Jukka Hirvonen will remain as a partner and continue as the Managing Director of the acquired businesses.
“The three seasons during which we have operated in the Luosto area have fostered a view that this is a developing destination with potential for the future. The Lapland Hotels chain, which belongs to the same group of travel businesses as us, has already invested strongly in Luosto and is now the area’s most substantial accommodation provider and the owner of the local ski slope. Furthermore, Lapland Safaris and Snow Games have been cooperating effectively for a long time and all this makes our corporate restructuring an obvious strategic step that promotes future growth opportunities for all parties,” says Jyrki Niva, Managing Director of Lapland Safaris.
Luosto – a distinctive destination
Luosto, located in the embrace of Pyhä-Luosto National Park, is an idyllic and intriguing travel centre. Luosto’s ancient pine forests, talus sloped fells and the unique Lampivaara amethyst mine provide an excellent setting for safari excursions and nature experiences. The individuality of Luosto is underlined by its buildings, which make the resort resemble a log-house village. The services of Lapland Hotels Luostotunturi include a spa and the deadwood log cabins, which house the rooms, ensure that holidaymakers can enjoy an exotic setting which meets international standards.
The area’s joint travel promotion organisation, the Pyhä-Luosto Resort Association, is emblematic of the strong sense of cooperation that pervades the region. Festivals like LuostoClassic and Pyhä Unplugged coexist harmoniously and have become established visitor favourites. Guests can come to Luosto in August to enjoy classical music in the bosom of nature, while others head to Pyhä Unplugged for a more contemporary programme of popular music.
“I’m confident that bringing together the accommodation expertise of Lapland Hotels, the international sales experience of Lapland Safaris, the local knowledge of Snow Games and the skills and contacts of our existing cooperation partners will enable future guests to enjoy unique, high-standard service totalities in and around Luosto,” says Jukka Hirvonen, Managing Director of business operations at Luosto.
