Lapland’s leading travel company, Lapland Hotels Ltd, is opening its third urban hotel. In the spring of 2018, Lapland Hotels Bulevardi will be ready to receive its first guests at Bulevardi 28 in the heart of Helsinki. The property is owned by LähiTapiola and the contractor with overall responsibility for the project is NCC.
Lapland Hotels Ltd has strong faith in the continued growth of the Finnish tourism industry: the influx of travellers from Asia and Central Europe is particularly strong, and domestic travel is experiencing steady growth. The new hotel continues Lapland Hotels’ urban growth strategy. Lapland Hotels currently operates 17 hotels and four ski resorts in Finland.
Lapland Hotels lands in Helsinki
”Finland’s reputation as a travel destination has improved even further in the last few years. And Helsinki is viewed as an extremely attractive urban destination. For this reason, Helsinki is where we will open our next premium urban hotel,” says Pertti Yliniemi, Chairman of the Board of Lapland Hotels Ltd.
The two first urban hotels, opened by Lapland Hotels in 2015 in Oulu and Tampere, have been well received by tourists and business travellers alike. Positioned in the top quarter of the accommodation industry, these hotels stand out from other companies operating south of the Arctic Circle based on their strong Lappish character, which is presented in a sophisticated and experiential manner.
”Lapland has appeal. We believe that our origins will be an extremely positive differentiating factor in Helsinki as well, both for domestic and international guests. The quality of the hotel will measure up to the standards of even the most demanding of travellers. Its central location on Bulevardi, at the heart of the city, reflects our position in Helsinki’s hotel offering,” says Lapland Hotels Ltd’s CEO Ari Vuorentausta.
Lapland Hotels Bulevardi will feature 182 larger-than-average hotel rooms decorated in accordance with the themes of nature and Northern mystique. The private saunas included in over a hundred rooms are a new feature in the urban hotel genre, bringing a touch of Nordic well-being. Restaurant services will play a large role in the new hotel, with inspiration taken from the pure ingredients of Lapland, prepared to an uncompromisingly high standard.
Lapland Hotels Bulevardi is a LocalTapiola investment property
The new hotel will be completed at the address Bulevardi 28 in the summer of 2018. The property was previously an office building.
”This development is in line with our investment strategy. We believe that there is strong demand in this hotel segment. We will ensure the long-term viability of the property in cooperation with Lapland Hotels and NCC,” says Real Estate Investment Director Vesa Eskoli of LocalTapiola Real Estate Asset Management.
The building will be renovated and converted into a hotel by NCC.
”It is a great honour to build a beautiful new hotel for Lapland Hotels in the heart of Helsinki. This contract requires a solid base of experience in hotel renovations, along with expertise in city-centre construction, where space is at a premium, and we have both,” says Head of Refurbishment Vesa Ahlroos of NCC.
